When we hear the words ‘photo booth’ we have been condition to expect a countdown 3…2..1, followed by a flurry of snapshots. Photobooth by ClarkLab is a conundrum in that it is simultaneously both more and less than what you expect.

The free Android utility allows you to combine gallery photos or capture new images directly from the camera to create a custom photo strip ready to share quickly and easily. You can choose from vertical or horizontal layouts, arrange your photos in ascending, descending, or random order on your strips, than export your strips in various sizes S,M, L (XL coming soon) ready to share with your selected social network.

The application does not add any styles, filters or effects natively that many have come to expect in a photo booth application. However, if your native camera app supports them you can use them with the ClarkLab Photobooth app.

Clark Wimberly of Android and Me fame designed PhotoBooth out of his desire to quickly share multiple photos in a single tweet. “Often I attend tech events or concerts and I always find myself with a handful of photos worth sharing and I was disappointed by my current Android options. I wanted a single URL, with the images unobstructed by effects or the sharing service itself, explained Clark.”

“The solution is Photobooth, a no nonsense utility that lets you share multiple photos to your preferred service easier than ever before. Photobooth required two permissions, local storage for saving photo strips and network connection for reporting crashes, that’s all” he added.

There have been several occasions when having this application to share photos would have been very handy. Especially when sharing on social networks like Twitter where linking more than one photo is very difficult due to 140 character Tweet limitation.

It’s not an application that’s going to live on my home screen but it’s definitely earned its spot in my app drawer, Thanks Clark!
